Senior Research Engineer:
Core Research and Development
Developed an improved kinetic model for acetylene hydrogenation that
allows to better control the process and optimize catalyst performance.
Performed mechanistic studies (reaction kinetics, DFT calculations,
spectroscopy) for
methane chlorination and
decomposition of chloromethanes over lanthanum catalysts (natural gas
conversion to higher hydrocarbons) and for propylene epoxidation over
gold-titanium catalysts, leading to discovery of preferred process
conditions and catalyst formulations (granted
patent and multiple patent disclosures) and accelerated catalyst and
process development. |

1994-1995
|
|
 |
Research
Engineer II:
Evaluated novel molecular sieves (Ti and V silicalites, Al-P-O)
and transition metal oxides for use as partial oxidation catalysts.
Developed tests for screening new materials for catalytic
properties, designed and assembled kinetic rigs, collected and analyzed
kinetic data. Synthesized
and characterized catalysts, provided recommendations on new catalyst
formulations. |

1992-1994
|
|
 |
Development Engineer:
Collected and analyzed pilot plant data for commercial and new
hydrogenation catalysts. Planned
and supervised pilot plant tests for hydrocracking (with Unocal) and
catalytic deparaffinization processes.
Evaluated new catalysts, different types of feedstock and
operation conditions. Provided
commercialization recommendations and support. |

Development Engineer:
Assisted in preparation of customized design configurations for
desulfurization (Merox)
and reforming (Platforming)
processes for petroleum refineries in Europe.
Provided technical support for the Marketing Services Department. |
